The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Society for Mechanical Sciences jointly organized the inauguration of Mechanical Engineering association on 17.09.2008. It was inaugurated by Mr.V.Sridhar, Managing Director ENMAC systems, Chennai in the presence of Dr.S.N.Subbramanian Director cum Secretary. The Principal Dr.V.P.Arunachalam, presided over the function about 200 members of the association were participated.

            The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Society for Mechanical Sciences jointly  organized the inauguration of ISHARE student’s chapter on 17.09.2008. The chapter was inaugurated by Mr.V.Sridhar, Immediate past president ISRAE Chennai Chapter in the presence of Dr.S.N.Subbramanian Director cum Secretary. The Inauguration was presided over by the Principal Dr.V.P.Arunachalam, about 200 Members of the Mechanical Engineering Department Association were participated. About 50 students were inducted as ISRAE student chapter members

The Centre for Research, Department of Mechanical Engineering of SNS College of Technology, Coimbatore conducted the inaugural function of the I Edition of “National Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research and Development (NCMERD) I-Edition in   RNG Memorial Hall in the college premises on 12th March 2009. Dr.M.S.Shanmugam Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering     IIT Madras,Chennai was the chief guest. Dr.T.Kannadasan Director-Research, Anna University,Coimbatore was the guest of honor. A total of 60 research papers were received from all over nation and after scrutinizing it, 29 papers were selected for the final presentation. For paper presentation session the eminent personalities Dr. S.Thirumalini from Amrita, Dr,N.Nataraj from GCT, Dr.PSS. Prasad, from PSG Tech and Dr. M.Thiagarajan, from Kumaraguru College of Technology were invited as session Chairmen. The function came to its final phase with the valedictory address by the chief guest Dr.S.Dhandapani, Principal, Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, held on 12^th March 2009.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM

DYNAMECH, the Association of Mechanical Engineering department conducted a National Technical Symposium MEXELERATE'09 at the college premises on 13th March 2009. Dr.S.V.Saravanan, Professor and Head of Mecahnical Engineering coordinated the whole function. Dr. V. Challadurai, Vice-Principal, Coimbatore Institute of Technology cum Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering,  was the chief guest .Around 200 students from 100 various Universities/ Engineering Colleges have participated in various events like paper presentation, Quiz, Marketing, etc., and won prizes in various events.

A Three-Day National camp for students EACS. ISTE – NSTEDB Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp for students, sponsored by ISTE-NSTEDB, conducted by ISTE student chapter and Department of Mechanical Engineering (Convenor: Dr.S.V.Saravanan) held on 24^th to 26^th February 2009

One day seminar had been organized on Labview 8.2.1 and its application to Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. The seminar was conducted by Er. J. Srikrishna and Sagar S. Bellurgi, Application Engineers, National instruments through Trident Tech labs pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on 26^th August 2008.
